Dielectric Unions allows pipe fittings of two dissimilar materials to be jointed safely.
Without Dielectric union, when two dissimilar metals come in contact with each other an electrolytic reaction occurs. Water acts as an electrolyte causing electrons from one metal to flow to the other resulting in corrosion called as galvanic corrosion.
Dielectric unions and flanges provide insulation between two different materials to help reduce galvanic corrosion and deterioration, allow incompatible materials to be joined together safely, helps extend installation life, improve system reliability and insure against unexpected maintenance costs.
Used at connection of Fan Coil Unit / AHU headers to Steel pipe, copper to steel pipe joints etc.
