Designers select from a variety of wood veneers (or laminates) and three surface hole patterns. Under the surface, the core material is perforated so sound energy has a path to the acoustical absorbers beneath.
Acoustically, four distinct Sereno composite panels have been tested – for walls with 1″ and 2″ thick fiberglass and for ceilings (E-400 mounting) with and without fiberglass backing. See data sheet, page 2, for NRC ratings and absorption coefficients.
