FLSS Seismic Control Restrained Spring Isolator

The Kinetics FLSS is a floor-mounted, restrained spring isolator designed to reduce vibration transmission from HVAC and mechanical equipment while controlling vertical and lateral movement. It is suitable for applications where equipment requires both operational vibration isolation and engineered restraint against seismic, wind or significant load-change conditions.

FLSS isolators can be specified for chillers, cooling towers, boilers and other mechanical equipment installed in commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, industrial and infrastructure projects. Kinetics Group provides technical product-selection and application support for consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers working across the UAE, GCC, Middle East and wider MENA region.

The manufacturer describes the FLSS design as vertically and laterally restrained, with constant free and operating height, replaceable neoprene components and additional coil travel. Exact performance wording and values should be checked against the latest approved FLSS datasheet before publication.

Product Description

Engineered Seismic Spring Isolation for Mechanical Equipment
KINETICS® FLSS Seismic Control Restrained Spring Isolator is a restrained spring vibration isolator designed for mechanical equipment that requires both vibration control and movement restraint. It combines free-standing, large-diameter, laterally stable steel springs with welded steel housing assemblies to support equipment while limiting excessive movement caused by seismic events, high wind loads, or other external forces.

Restrained Housing for Controlled Equipment Movement
The FLSS housing assembly limits vertical movement of isolated equipment when equipment loads reduce or when external forces act on the system. In addition, the housing provides a constant free and operating height, which helps contractors and MEP teams achieve accurate installation and alignment on site.

Spring Design and Load Stability
Each KINETICS® FLSS isolator includes spring elements with internal noise isolation pads and leveling bolts as part of the top load plate assembly. Holes are provided in all isolators for bolting to both the structure and the supported equipment. For stability, the spring elements have a lateral spring stiffness greater than 1.2 times the rated vertical stiffness and provide a minimum overload capacity of 50%.

Performance Range and Custom Options
FLSS vibration isolators are available as standard products with deflections up to 4 inches, or 100 mm, and load capacities up to 23,200 lbs., or 10,523 kg. Custom isolators with higher deflection and greater load capabilities are also available for project-specific mechanical, HVAC, and seismic restraint requirements.

Suitable for Fluid-Loaded and Wind-Exposed Equipment
Kinetics Model FLSS Spring Isolators are recommended for equipment that carries large fluid loads which may be drained during maintenance, such as boilers and chillers. They also suit cooling towers, air-cooled condensers, and similar equipment where wind-related movement must be minimized.

Specification-Focused Construction
FLSS isolators are seismically rated, restrained spring isolators for equipment subject to load variations and large external forces. The fabricated steel housing includes a top load plate with adjusting and leveling bolts, adjustable vertical restraints, isolation washers, and a bottom plate with internal non-skid noise isolation pads. The housing also includes holes for anchoring to the supporting structure.

Corrosion-Resistant Housing and Reliable Restraint
The housing is hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance and designed to provide a constant free and operating height within 1/8 inch, or 3 mm. The isolator housing provides a minimum 1 g restraint in all directions. Spring elements are selected to match the static deflections shown on the vibration isolation schedule or as required in the project documents. Springs are color coded or otherwise identified.

Durable Spring Finish
Non-welded spring elements are polyester powder coated and have a 1000-hour rating when tested in accordance with ASTM B-117. This supports long-term durability in demanding mechanical rooms, rooftop plant areas, chiller plants, and infrastructure environments across the UAE, GCC, Middle East, and MENA region.
