GOTHAM is a deck-suspended spring ceiling hanger for acoustic ceiling isolation where wire-tie suspension is not permitted or not preferred. Designed for resiliently suspended gypsum ceilings, GOTHAM supports noise control ceiling systems for commercial, residential, hospitality, and MEP projects across the UAE, GCC, Middle East, and MENA region.
Kinetics Noise Control Inc. Products
GOTHAM by Kinetics is a 1″ deflection spring hanger designed to suspend isolated ceiling systems from concrete decks, metal deck composite construction, or structural framing. It is particularly suitable for projects where local building requirements do not allow wire-tie ceilings, and it is noted by Kinetics as approved for construction in New York City.
Deck-Suspended Acoustic Ceiling Isolation
GOTHAM combines a high-deflection steel spring with a resilient molded neoprene noise and vibration isolation pad inside a stamped steel hanger assembly. This resilient hanger supports gypsum ceiling systems while helping increase the assembly’s ability to reduce airborne sound and impact noise transmission.
Designed for CRC and Drywall Furring Channel Systems
For contractors who prefer a conventional cold-rolled channel and drywall furring channel ceiling grid, GOTHAM provides a practical alternative to wire-tie-style hangers. The channel clip assembly carries the cold-rolled-channel grid system, while the leveling bolt assembly supports faster and simpler ceiling grid leveling. After the weight of the noise control ceiling compresses the spring, an airspace is created between the concrete deck and the isolated ceiling.
Project Coordination and Installation Support
GOTHAM is designed to accept 1-1/2″ x 1/2″, 16-gauge cold-rolled steel and can be used with 7/8″ 20- to 25-gauge drywall furring channel, 1/2″ or 5/8″ Type X gypsum board, anchors, and threaded rod where required. Kinetics provides BIM objects, isolated ceiling penetration details, Gotham and KSCH ductwork details, submittal drawings, data sheet, HPD, specifications, selection guidelines, installation guidelines, LEED information, SDS, and warranty resources for consultant and contractor coordination.
Engineering Performance Considerations
The GOTHAM hanger assembly allows 15 degrees of vertical alignment of the suspension member without metal-to-metal contact. It includes an integral spring pre-load bracket to help minimize elevation change after loading and to keep the isolator assembly steady during gypsum board installation. The hanger deflection is selected to provide a maximum natural frequency of 4.4 Hz, and the steel spring element has a minimum Kx to Ky ratio of 1 at its 1″ rated deflection.
