KINETICS® HardSide Acoustical Ceiling Baffles are high-efficiency sound absorbers used to control room reverberation and reduce overall noise levels in large, reflective spaces. Installed vertically from ceiling structures or stretched cable systems, these acoustic ceiling baffles provide overhead sound absorption where wall space is limited or where additional acoustic treatment is required.
Acoustic Treatment for Large Spaces
Large-volume interiors such as gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, restaurants, atriums, lobbies, reception areas, corridors, offices, churches, libraries, and learning facilities can become reverberant due to hard surfaces and open ceiling areas. HardSide Baffles help improve acoustic comfort by adding sound absorption at ceiling level, making them suitable for both new construction and retrofit acoustic upgrade projects.
Construction and Finish Options
HardSide Baffles are constructed with two boards of 6 PCF fiberglass and reinforced edges. All faces and edges are wrapped in fabric from the FR-701© collection by Guilford of Maine, or with factory-approved customer-selected fabric. Vinyl finishes are also available for project-specific requirements. The baffles are designed with crisp edges and a clean appearance, making them suitable for spaces where aesthetics and acoustic performance are both important.
Design Flexibility and Performance
Standard sizes are available up to 4′ x 10′, with standard thicknesses of 2″ and 4″. Edge treatment options include Square, Bevel, Radius, Pencil, and Miter profiles. Published NRC ratings range from 1.00 to 1.05, and Kinetics notes that acoustical performance improves when panels are hung vertically as baffles compared with flush-mounted wall test data.
Project Support and Options
Available resources include specification, data sheet, LEED analysis, room acoustics brochure, warranty information, Anchorage 2335 fabric details, fabric cleaning guidelines, Guilford of Maine fabric swatch ordering, and Eyebolt and Suspension Cable installation information. HardSide Cloud Panels are also available as a related solution for horizontal mounting. The AcoustiGraphix option allows artwork, logos, trademarks, or custom graphics to be displayed while supporting noise and reverberation control.
