Acoustical Fire-Rated Outlet Backer Pad
Kinetics IsoBacker is a resilient putty pad designed for use around electrical outlet boxes in sound-rated and fire-rated wall assemblies. Outlet boxes are common weak points in acoustic partitions, especially when they are left unsealed or installed back-to-back within the same stud cavity. IsoBacker is hand-formed around the back of the outlet box to help prevent this sound leakage path and support the intended acoustic performance of the wall system.

Designed for Sound-Rated Wall Assemblies
In acoustic walls, even small penetrations can reduce overall sound isolation. IsoBacker helps maintain high acoustical ratings by sealing the outlet box area while remaining permanently resilient. It is designed to work with Kinetics IsoMax sound isolation clips and other sound-rated wall assemblies, making it suitable for consultant-specified acoustic wall systems in hotels, apartments, offices, schools, hospitals, studios, cinemas, and mixed-use developments.

Fire-Rated and UL Classified Performance
IsoBacker is UL classified for both metallic and non-metallic outlet boxes and is designed to help prevent the spread of smoke, fire, and toxic gases through wall penetrations. It has been tested to UL 263, ASTM E119, UL 1479, and ASTM E814, and complies with Section 712.3.2 of the 2006 IBC. It has also been tested in STC 60 wall assemblies.

Practical Installation for Contractors
IsoBacker pads are sized for standard outlet boxes and can be easily applied by hand. The material offers outstanding adhesion to outlet boxes and other substrates, remains non-hardening, and is water-resistant. Each pad is 1/8″ thick, measuring 7.25″ x 7.25″, and supplied in boxes of 20 pads, supporting efficient installation for acoustic fit-out, MEP, electrical, and interior construction works.
