MUTA Spring Wire-Tie Ceiling Hanger

MUTA is a spring wire-tie ceiling hanger designed for suspended acoustic ceiling isolation where crowded plenums, ductwork, pipework, and MEP services make close-to-deck hanger installation difficult. It supports isolated gypsum ceiling assemblies for noise and vibration control in UAE, GCC, Middle East, and MENA building projects.

Product Description

MUTA by Kinetics is a spring wire-tie ceiling hanger used to resiliently suspend isolated ceiling grid systems. It is designed for projects where the plenum space is congested with ductwork, pipework, and related MEP services, making it difficult to install ceiling isolation hangers close to the structural deck. The MUTA hanger allows the ceiling grid to be suspended by wire while supporting one or more layers of gypsum board through a full one-inch rated deflection spring in series with a rubber element.

Flexible Ceiling Isolation for Crowded Plenums
Using welded-closed eyebolts at the top and bottom of the hanger body, MUTA can be suspended between the deck above and the ceiling grid below, allowing contractors to avoid ducts, pipes, and other services. When all hangers are suspended at the same elevation, the system can form at least a 15-inch airspace between the concrete deck and gypsum board, supporting improved acoustic separation in isolated ceiling construction.

Designed for Wire-Tie Ceiling Grid Systems
MUTA is especially suitable for contractors familiar with wire-tied ceiling installation. It can be used with 1-1/2″ x 1/2″, 16-gauge cold-rolled channel and 7/8″ 20- to 25-gauge drywall furring channel. Typical isolated ceiling construction may also include appropriate suspension wire, anchors for fixing wire to the non-isolated substrate, 1/2″ or 5/8″ gypsum board, perimeter isolation treatment, and resilient acoustic sealant where specified.

Selection and Installation Support
MUTA ceiling hangers are selected based on ceiling weight, grid layout, gypsum board layers, ceiling accessories, and hanger spacing. Kinetics guidance notes that perimeter isolators should be located not more than 12 inches from the edge of the isolated ceiling while maintaining at least 3 inches of perimeter clearance. Mid-room hangers may be located up to 48 inches on center each way, subject to project-specific layout requirements and approved shop drawings.

The MUTA range includes twelve spring capacities, with model selections from 12 to 370 and published capacity ranges from 6 lb to 385 lb depending on spring model. This range helps contractors and acoustic consultants level the ceiling grid and select hangers according to project load requirements. Kinetics also provides drawings, BIM objects, submittal documents, installation guidelines, selection guidelines, specifications, LEED information, SDS, and warranty resources for project coordination.

Application

  • Wire-suspended acoustic ceiling isolation systems
  • Concrete deck ceiling isolation with congested plenum space
