Masonry Wall Isolation Strip for CMU Acoustic Assemblies
Kinetics NAFP-10 is a custom-molded and coated fiberglass board with high-density fiberboard, engineered to resiliently decouple a CMU, or concrete masonry unit, wall from non-isolated structure. It is used where masonry partitions must remain acoustically separated from the surrounding floor, slab, or structural framing to support the intended performance of sound-rated wall assemblies.
Helps Control Flanking Sound and Vibration
In acoustic construction, sound can bypass a wall through rigid structural connections, floor/ceiling assemblies, and wall junctions. Kinetics notes that flanking through a floor/ceiling assembly can reduce STC or IIC ratings by 10 points or more compared with non-flanked sound control construction. NAFP-10 creates a resilient break to help stop sound or vibration from flanking to the area below the wall.
Continuous Isolation at the Base of CMU Walls
NAFP-10 is applied continuously along the bottom of a CMU wall wherever acoustic isolation is required. This continuous resilient support helps maintain a fully effective sound-rated assembly while allowing contractors to coordinate masonry wall isolation during construction. To maintain proper separation, neoprene tubing, supplied by others, should be used around reinforcement from non-isolated structure.
Engineered for Consultant-Specified Acoustic Projects
NAFP-10 uses Kinetics KIP Pad Technology and is designed for loads up to 15 psi, with higher capacities available by contacting the factory. The hardboard and coated fiberglass composite is easy to cut on site, making it practical for acoustic masonry wall details in cinemas, studios, hotels, schools, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, mechanical spaces, and infrastructure projects across the UAE and GCC.
Supporting Documentation and Related Systems
Kinetics provides supporting resources for NAFP-10, including submittal documentation, design guidelines, submittal drawings, non-load-bearing wall drawings, data sheet, specifications, LEED documentation, SDS, warranty information, and sealant system component information. Related products include PSB-M and IPRB for coordinated acoustic wall isolation detailing.
