SM Housed Spring Isolators

Kinetics Model SM Housed Spring Isolators are engineered to reduce high- and low-frequency vibration generated by floor-mounted HVAC, mechanical, industrial and process equipment. Their high-deflection steel springs are installed within telescoping cast-iron or aluminium housings and incorporate adjustable snubbing to control vertical movement during equipment start-up and shut-down.

Model SM is suitable for applications where greater damping and less equipment movement are required than with free-standing spring isolators. Kinetics Group provides technical product selection and vibration-control support for consultants, contractors and project teams across the UAE, GCC, Middle East and MENA region.

Product Description

Housed Spring Vibration Isolation for Mechanical Equipment

KINETICS® SM Housed Spring Isolators are high-deflection spring vibration isolators designed to reduce high and low frequency vibration from mechanical, industrial, and process machinery. Each Model SM isolator uses color-coded steel springs assembled within telescoping cast iron or aluminum housings. The design helps control equipment vibration while providing a stable housed configuration for applications where more damping is required and less movement can be tolerated than with free-standing spring isolators.

Engineered Construction and Load Support

Model SM spring isolators include a 1/4 in. / 6 mm thick ribbed noise isolation pad bonded to the lower load surface. They also include an adjusting and leveling bolt as part of the top assembly. Holes or slots allow the isolators to bolt securely to the supporting structure. Springs are polyester powder coated and carry a 1000-hour salt spray rating per ASTM B-117. Available deflections reach up to 1.79 in. / 46 mm, with load capacities from 50 to 3500 lbs. / 23 to 1588 kg.

Adjustable Snubbing and Motion Control

The adjustable snubbing feature helps reduce movement during equipment start-up and shut-down. This makes KINETICS® SM Housed Spring Isolators suitable for floor-mounted mechanical equipment and industrial machinery in both critical and non-critical areas. The isolators can support equipment with operating speeds of 1200 RPM or higher when installed on grade-supported slabs or short structural floor spans.

Flexible Model Options for Project Coordination

Model SM isolators suit applications where the isolator-to-equipment connection allows a leveling bolt to extend above the mount and act as both a leveling and attachment bolt. For equipment connections that require a flat plate, Model SMI provides internal leveling. Model SMP offers a centering pin and internal level adjustment where adjustment bolts need accessible internal access. Optional internal leveling and molded fiberglass noise pads are also available.
