Product Description

Sheet Damping Material for Metal Noise Control
KINETICS® KDD-3642 Sound Deadener is a bituminous sheet damping material developed for cost-effective vibration damping of sheet metal panels that radiate noise. It helps reduce resonant vibration and also lowers the loudness and duration of random impact noise when panels are struck. This makes it suitable for applications where metal surfaces create “tinniness,” ringing, vibration-related noise, or impact-generated sound.

Designed for HVAC, Industrial, and Equipment Applications
KDD-3642 Sound Deadening Sheets are used on a wide range of metal components, including sheet metal ducts, mixing boxes, terminal units, appliance cabinets, air conditioners, motor housings, transformer housings, chutes, bins, hoppers, machine housings, and belt guards. For acoustic consultants, MEP engineers, contractors, and industrial project teams, the product provides a practical damping treatment for reducing radiated noise from vibrating metal surfaces in commercial, industrial, and mechanical environments.

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive for Efficient Installation
Model KDD-3642 includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side, protected by an easily removable release liner. The high-performance acrylic adhesive provides high tack for easy installation and full surface contact, supporting effective damping performance. The material can also be slit, punched, or die-cut into parts to match project or equipment requirements.

Durable Physical Properties for Practical Site Use
KDD-3642 Sound Deadener is black in color and available as 36″ x 42″ x 0.060″ sheets, with a weight of 0.579 lbs./sq. ft. The material is self-extinguishing as defined by FMVSS 302, offers excellent water resistance, and can withstand intermittent temperatures up to 250°F without blistering or sliding down vertical surfaces.

KDD-3642 Sound Deadener shall consist of a bitumen based material, coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side, protected by a release paper which is removed prior to installation. The release paper shall be double-coated to provide both release from the adhesive and blocking resistance in shipping and storage.

The material shall be furnished in sheets/die-cut parts having a black color, thickness of 0.060” ± 0.005” and a weight of 0.579 Lbs. per sq. ft.

Model KDD-3642 shall be free from flammable vapors and shall be self extinguishing as defined by FMVSS 302.

The material shall provide excellent resistance to water and shall be capable of withstanding intermittent temperatures up to 250°F without blistering or sliding down vertical surfaces.

Model KDD-3642 shall provide a combined loss factor at 200 Hz of 0.194 as measured at 68°F on a 0.032” steel.

Model KDD-3642 sheets/die-cut parts shall be provided by Kinetics Noise Control, Inc.
