Sound-Rated Doors for Complete Room Isolation
KINETICS® Sound-Rated Acoustical Doors are engineered to support high-performance room isolation where ordinary residential or commercial doors become the weakest point in the acoustic design. A door can transmit sound through the door leaf itself, while unsealed air gaps around the frame and floor can allow noise to pass into adjacent spaces. Kinetics acoustic wood doors address both issues through sound-rated door construction and perimeter gasketing systems.
STC-49 and STC-35 Acoustic Door Options
KINETICS® offers custom-manufactured STC-49 and STC-35 sound-rated acoustical doors. The STC-49 KWAD-49 option is designed for critical room isolation applications, while the STC-35 KWAD-35 option provides a cost-effective acoustic improvement over typical residential doors. Kinetics identifies typical residential doors at approximately STC 15–20, making sound-rated door selection an important part of acoustic wall and room design.
Wood Acoustic Doors for Architectural Interiors
Unlike many sound-rated doors that are made from metal, KINETICS® acoustical wood doors are designed for residential and architectural interior environments where acoustic performance and appearance both matter. The doors are made with lab-tested noise control core materials and finished in high-quality wood options, supporting use in luxury villas, apartments, hotels, private cinemas, studios, media rooms, offices, schools, and specialist acoustic spaces.
Perimeter Gaskets for Air-Gap Sealing
Sound isolation depends heavily on airtight detailing. KINETICS® Sound-Rated Acoustical Doors include sound-rated gasket systems consisting of head and jamb seals for the sides and top, along with door-bottom sweeps. Pre-hung assemblies include all perimeter gasketing, while slab-only assemblies include factory-assembled sweeps with saddles and seals supplied for field installation.
Custom Manufactured for Project Requirements
KINETICS® acoustic doors are available with jambs as pre-hung assemblies or as slab-only doors. Standard configurations include maple wood, 36″ x 80″ and 36″ x 84″ door sizes, 1-3/4″ thickness, maple jambs up to 6-3/4″ deep, and three 4-1/2″ fully mortised heavy-duty ball-bearing hinges in brushed stainless steel. Optional configurations include poplar, oak, cherry, many other custom veneers, single doors up to 48″ wide x 120″ high, and double doors with jambs.
Finish and Gasketing Options
Standard finish options include unfinished stainable surfaces and smooth-skinned doors capable of receiving surface-mounted raised-panel trim. Standard gasketing products include ZDSL-478AA jamb seals, ZDSW-369A automatic sweep, and ZDSD-564A saddle where required. Optional products include ZDSL-7770 field-adjustable jamb seals for new doors, ZDSL-870 field-adjustable jamb seals for retrofit work, ZDSL-477 meeting stiles for double doors, and ZDSW-367 surface-mount or semi-mortised sweeps. Standard gasket finishes are anodized aluminum, with optional Bronze, Gold Anodized, and Dark Anodized Bronze finishes depending on item availability.
