WAVE Hanger by Kinetics is a specialized noise control ceiling hanger for wood-framed floor-ceiling construction. Designed for high-performance acoustic isolation, it provides 1/2″ deflection spring hanger performance with the spacing and ease of installation of a sound clip. The leaf spring design helps control low-frequency noise, including the “thuds” commonly associated with footfall and impact noise from rooms above.
High-Performance Wood-Frame Ceiling Isolation
WAVE Hanger is engineered for acoustic ceiling systems in wood-framed buildings where resilient channel or standard sound clips may not provide the required level of low-frequency performance. Kinetics notes that WAVE Hanger outperforms resilient channel and sound clips, with documented improvement over resilient channel at 50 Hz for both impact sound and airborne transmission loss.
Designed for Better Floor-Ceiling Acoustic Control
WAVE Hanger is used with isolated ceiling assemblies that may include wood structural framing, fiberglass insulation, 7/8″ drywall furring channel, and two layers of 5/8″ Type X or Type C drywall depending on the tested assembly. It can also be coordinated with Kinetics IsoLayment BR or HB 3-mm noise control floor underlayment to support low-profile floor-ceiling designs.
Acoustic Testing and Project Suitability
Tested WAVE Hanger assemblies include STC 60 / IIC 57 and STC 61 / IIC 56 configurations, depending on floor finish, subfloor, joist type, insulation, and ceiling construction. Kinetics also lists two IIC 56+ and STC 60 assemblies, along with low flooring profile performance for ceramic tile and wood floor applications with only 1/8 inch, or 3 mm, floor buildup.
Consultant-Friendly Design Support
For acoustic consultants, architects, contractors, and developers, WAVE Hanger offers a practical ceiling isolation solution for residential, hospitality, and mixed-use wood-frame construction. Kinetics provides supporting resources including data sheet, installation guidelines, specifications, submittal drawing, typical construction details, LEED analysis, and STC/IIC acoustic test data.
