What enables mechanical systems in high-rise residences and premium hospitality developments to operate smoothly, quietly, and reliably? It is the engineering applied beneath and between the equipment—isolating vibration, supporting mechanical loads, accommodating movement, and preventing noise from travelling through the building structure. That focus shapes KGC’s February edition. This month, we feature two significant developments: Nobles Residential Tower in Business Bay, Dubai, where Kinetics vibration isolators and inertia bases support critical mechanical equipment; and Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy at Sindalah Island, Saudi Arabia, where flexible connectors, vibration isolation systems, and seismic restraints contribute to dependable long-term performance. Our Technical Discussion examines practical approaches to mitigating noise and vibration in mechanical rooms, highlighting how correctly selected vibration isolators and inertia bases help minimise structure-borne transmission, distribute equipment loads, and control unwanted lateral and axial movement. We also spotlight the Kinetics SSBH stainless-steel braided flexible connector, engineered to accommodate piping misalignment and thermal movement while reducing noise and vibration transmission through hot-water, chilled-water, and pump connections. The edition also features Kinetics’ composite noise-control approach for air-cooled chillers, addressing both compressor and fan noise while maintaining equipment operation and service access.
