Berner Air Curtain, USA

Kinetics Group supplies Berner Air Curtains for commercial, architectural, foodservice and industrial doorway applications across the UAE, GCC, Middle East and MENA region.

Berner air curtains create a controlled stream of air across an open entrance, forming an invisible barrier between indoor and outdoor environments. This helps reduce the loss of conditioned air while limiting the entry of hot outside air, dust, fumes, odours and flying insects without restricting pedestrian, vehicle or goods movement.

The Made-in-USA Berner range includes low-profile commercial units, high-performance entrance air curtains, architectural and recessed models, sanitation-certified units, pass-through and drive-through systems, and heavy-duty industrial air curtains. Kinetics Group supports consultants and contractors with model selection, technical documentation, project coordination and quotations.

Product Description

Berner provides air curtain solutions for different entrance sizes, operating conditions, architectural requirements and building uses. The correct model must be selected according to the opening width, mounting height, available installation clearance, surrounding wind conditions, building pressure and required purpose.

Commercial air curtains are suitable for retail entrances, restaurant doors, offices, institutional buildings, service doors, pass-through openings and drive-through windows. Low-profile, high-performance, heated and unheated configurations are available depending on the selected model.

Architectural air curtains combine entrance protection with a design-focused appearance. The range includes exposed, recessed, revolving-door and concealed entrance solutions for hotels, offices, retail developments and prominent public entrances.

Industrial air curtains are designed for warehouses, manufacturing facilities, loading areas, distribution centres, shipping bays and large service openings. Direct-drive and belt-drive configurations are available, with specialised options for demanding environments depending on the selected series.

Sanitation-certified air curtains are designed for foodservice applications where flying-insect control and hygiene requirements are important. Selected Berner sanitation models are EPH listed to ANSI/NSF 37 and UL Listed for outdoor mounting.

Energy-Efficient Doorway Air Barrier
Berner Air Curtain solutions are designed to separate indoor and outdoor environments using a controlled stream of air across an open doorway. This invisible air barrier helps maintain indoor comfort, supports HVAC energy efficiency, and reduces the uncontrolled movement of outside air into conditioned spaces.

Comfort, Hygiene, and Indoor Air Quality Support
By helping prevent the infiltration of dust, pollutants, fumes, odors, and flying insects, Berner Air Curtains are well suited for applications where hygiene, comfort, and air separation are important. They are commonly used in restaurants, retail stores, offices, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities, where doors may remain open frequently for people, goods, or equipment movement.

HVAC and Building Performance Value
Berner Air Curtains help HVAC systems operate more efficiently by reducing air exchange at entrances and service openings. Properly selected and installed air curtains can contribute to occupant comfort, customer experience, indoor air quality, food safety, sustainability, and energy-saving objectives. Berner also provides technical support resources, specifications, documents, BIM/CAD files, installation instructions, and product selection tools to assist consultants, contractors, and MEP engineers.

Commercial and Industrial Application Flexibility
Berner Air Curtains are available for different project requirements, including commercial entrances, industrial doorways, pass-through windows, restaurants, manufacturing areas, warehouses, institutions, and hospitality environments. Depending on the selected model, Berner air curtains may be used for environmental separation, insect control, comfort improvement, and energy-conscious building operation.

Installation Guidelines

Install each Berner Air Curtain in accordance with the approved product submittal, model-specific Berner installation manual, project electrical requirements and applicable authority regulations.

Confirm that the supporting structure can carry the unit and that the air curtain is centred over the opening. Position the unit as close as permitted to the top of the doorway while maintaining the clearances required by the selected model. The air intake, discharge nozzle and projected air stream must remain unobstructed.

The air curtain should cover the full opening width. Where multiple units are required, coordinate their positions to provide continuous doorway coverage. Check the direction of airflow, fan operation, speed controls, door switches, sensors and heating components where included.

Building pressure must also be considered. Excessive negative pressure, crosswinds or an incorrectly positioned discharge stream can reduce air-curtain effectiveness and may require ventilation-system balancing or adjustment of the discharge vanes.

During commissioning, verify that the air stream reaches the intended target area and provides continuous coverage across the opening. Establish a maintenance programme covering intake screens, blower assemblies, motors, controls, mounting hardware and electrical components.

Model-specific mounting dimensions, clearances and electrical instructions always take precedence over these general guidelines.
