Product Description

Low-Profile Ceiling Isolation for Height-Critical Spaces
KINETICS® KSCH Super-Compact Ceiling Hanger is engineered for isolated ceiling construction where architects, acoustic consultants, and contractors need high-performance spring isolation without sacrificing room height. The system resiliently decouples one or more layers of gypsum board from the non-isolated structure using less than 3-1/2 inches of space, making it suitable for renovations, premium interiors, C-suite offices, studios, theaters, apartments, hotels, and commercial spaces where ceiling height is a key design concern.

Spring Hanger Performance in a Compact Assembly
The KSCH Ceiling Hanger is designed to provide one-inch spring deflection performance in a narrow 3-1/2 inch airspace. It uses a single 1-1/2″ x 1/2″ cold-rolled channel to support the drywall furring channel to which gypsum board is attached. This compact design helps consultants specify resilient ceiling isolation while supporting practical installation coordination for new-build and retrofit acoustic projects.

Noise and Vibration Control for Concrete Deck Applications
KSCH is particularly useful where an isolated ceiling is required below concrete slabs, mechanical equipment penthouses, noisy MEP areas, or occupied spaces requiring improved airborne and impact noise control. Kinetics lists acoustic test assemblies using KSCH under a 6-inch concrete slab, including configurations achieving STC 69 / IIC 54 with 3-3/8″ airspace and two layers of 5/8″ gypsum board, and STC 69 / IIC 62 when combined with ceramic tile and ISO Layment QT underlayment.

Flexible Design for Complex Ceiling Layouts
KSCH is designed for ceiling isolation layouts that may include soffits, different ceiling heights, tray ceilings, indirect lighting, ductwork, suspended MEP items, cable trays, and non-standard room geometry. The hanger can accept a 3/8-inch threaded rod below the channel bracket, making it easier to coordinate selected suspended services below the isolated ceiling when properly designed.

Installation and Coordination Support
The KSCH system includes useful installation features such as an extended mounting bracket for attachment to the non-isolated deck, centering notches for alignment, and mounting plate options that can be shot to the deck or slid through Unistrut® channel. Kinetics shop drawings can include coordinated loading information, dimensioned hanger layouts, spring colors and capacities, acoustical information, hanger deflection data, and installation guidance for contractors.

  • Designed to support drywall furring channel for gypsum board attachment
  • Extended mounting bracket allows attachment to non-isolated deck
  • Centering notches support accurate alignment during installation
  • Minimal vertical and lateral movement during seismic events, as listed by Kinetics
  • Mounting bracket options allow installation shot to deck or slid through Unistrut®
  • Wider mounting plate holes can accommodate seismic-rated pins where required
  • Accepts 3/8-inch threaded rod below the channel bracket for selected suspended MEP items
  • Adaptable to varying deck heights, soffits, tray ceilings, and complex ceiling layouts
  • Can integrate with traditional one-inch spring deflection hangers such as ICC or Gotham where required
  • Capacity options listed by Kinetics include 22, 35, 48, 73, 90, 120, 140, 172, and 223 lb hanger capacities
  • Spring color identification supports correct hanger placement and load coordination
  • Typical isolated ceiling hanger spacing may be up to 48 inches on center each way, subject to project design
  • Perimeter isolators should be located not more than 12 inches from isolated ceiling edges, based on Kinetics installation guidance
  • Kinetics-listed test assembly: STC 72 / IIC 51 with two layers of gypsum board below a 6-inch concrete slab with fiberglass batt and 1/2-inch deflection springs
  • Additional listed KSCH test assembly: STC 69 / IIC 54 under 6-inch concrete slab with 3-3/8 inch airspace
  • KSCH with ISO Layment QT listed test assembly: STC 69 / IIC 62
  • KSCH-APB configurations listed with STC 80 / IIC 64 and STC 81 / IIC 60, depending on airspace and assembly details
