MidTones | Mid-Frequency Wood Diffusers

KINETICS® MidTones are mid-frequency wood diffusers that combine natural hardwood finishes with Quadratic Residue Diffuser theory to create balanced sound diffusion for walls and ceilings. Designed for auditoriums, lecture halls, studios, home theaters, and critical listening spaces across the UAE, GCC, Middle East, and MENA region, MidTones help improve sound clarity, uniformity, and acoustic spaciousness.

Product Description

Natural Wood Diffusion for Balanced Room Acoustics
KINETICS® MidTones Mid-Frequency Wood Diffusers combine the beauty of natural wood with the science of quadratic theory to create broadband sound diffusing wall and ceiling finishes. They are designed to produce a more balanced acoustic environment by scattering reflected sound energy rather than simply absorbing it. This makes MidTones suitable for performance spaces, AV rooms, studios, lecture halls, home theaters, and other critical listening environments.

Wide-Range Uniform Acoustic Diffusion
MidTones provide a wide frequency range of uniform acoustical diffusion, helping reinforce middle-to-high frequency sound through diffuse reflections from the panel surface. This supports improved sound clarity and more even sound distribution throughout the listening space, especially in rooms where direct reflections can affect speech, music, or AV performance.

Quadratic Residue Diffuser Design
MidTones Wood Diffusers are manufactured as 18″ wide hardwood assemblies with a series of sound-scattering wells in varying depths. The sequence includes seven elevations, and the relationship between these elevations is based on Quadratic Residue Diffuser, or QRD, theory for scattering sound wave energy. This theory is based on the work of German acoustician M. R. Schroeder.

Flexible Wall and Ceiling Layouts
The assemblies can be installed side by side so the sequence of wells repeats across a wider area. When the MidTones ribs are installed vertically, reflected sound is scattered horizontally. For two-dimensional diffusion, panels may be laid out 90 degrees to one another in a quilt-work pattern, helping scatter sound both vertically and horizontally.

Hardwood and Finish Options
MidTones are available in cherry, maple, oak, and poplar hardwoods. Finish options include unfinished, clear coated, stained and clear coated, and painted finish for poplar only. Standard dimensions are 18″ wide x 4-5/8″ deep, with lengths available from 12″ to 96″. Custom lengths up to 120″ are available upon request, and matching endcaps for the tops and bottoms are also available.

Consultant-Friendly Acoustic Solution for Regional Projects
For UAE, GCC, Middle East, and MENA projects that require acoustic diffusion with a premium wood appearance, KINETICS® MidTones provide a practical and architecturally refined solution. They help acoustic consultants, AV designers, architects, contractors, and interior fit-out teams manage reflections while maintaining a warm natural wood finish suitable for high-quality interiors.
