Isolated Wall Brace for Acoustic Partitions
Kinetics PSB is an isolated wall brace used where acoustic wall isolation must be maintained while providing structural support to the partition. The PSB range includes PSB-S for wood and steel stud wall construction and PSB-M for concrete masonry unit, or CMU, wall construction. These products are used when isolated partitions require restraint against buckling without compromising the acoustic separation from surrounding structure.
Maintains Stability in Isolated Wall Assemblies
In acoustic construction, walls are often decoupled from adjacent structural elements to reduce sound and vibration transfer. However, isolated partitions still require stability. PSB provides resilient bracing so the partition can remain structurally supported while limiting rigid connections that may transmit unwanted noise. PSB-S also helps eliminate the “give” felt when leaning on an acoustically isolated wall.
PSB-S for Stud Wall Construction
PSB-S is designed for wood and steel frame stud wall construction. It should be used where a partition is not supported at the top plate, or where top and bottom support alone is not sufficient to prevent wall buckling. PSB-S is a multi-axis restraint, is seismically rated, and includes an 11-gauge galvanized steel bracket with an adjustable standoff that can be tailored to project-specific airspaces, with a 2-1/2″ minimum.
PSB-M for CMU Wall Construction
PSB-M is designed for concrete masonry unit wall construction where wall isolation is required. It supports CMU partitions against buckling and is suitable where a secondary masonry wall is used for improved sound control but rigid bracing would cause unwanted noise transfer. Kinetics notes that PSB-M does not add to the STC rating of a partition; instead, it provides structural stability without sacrificing acoustic performance.
Reliable Wall Isolation Support for UAE and GCC Projects
PSB is suitable for consultant-specified acoustic wall systems in cinemas, recording studios, auditoriums, hotels, apartments, schools, hospitals, offices, mechanical rooms, and mixed-use developments. It helps project teams coordinate wall stability, acoustic isolation, seismic restraint, and construction practicality within one engineered wall brace solution.
