Kinetics Circular Duct Silencers are UAE-made sound attenuators engineered to reduce airborne noise in round HVAC and ventilation duct systems. Suitable for fan inlets and discharges, air handling units, cooling towers and other mechanical air systems, they help consultants and contractors achieve the required acoustic performance while controlling pressure drop and regenerated noise.

Each circular silencer is selected according to duct diameter, airflow, target insertion loss, available installation length and project construction requirements. Straight dissipative, acoustic-bullet and space-efficient configurations can be evaluated according to the application.

Product Description

Kinetics Circular Silencers are high-performance cylindrical HVAC sound attenuators for round duct systems. They reduce airborne noise while supporting efficient airflow and controlled pressure drop.

Kinetics manufactures these circular duct silencers in the UAE for commercial, institutional, and industrial building-services applications. They help control fan noise, airflow noise, and mechanical ventilation noise in HVAC and MEP systems.

 

Engineered Circular Silencer Construction

Each circular silencer uses a cylindrical, pressure-tight casing and a streamlined acoustic core baffle. Kinetics packs the acoustic section with continuous-strand fiberglass under compression. A minimum 22 ga. or 0.85 mm galvanized perforated-steel liner protects the acoustic absorption media.

Kinetics centers the absorptive core baffle inside the casing. In addition, a spun head at the inlet reduces entrance pressure loss. The tapered tail then helps balance insertion loss with pressure-drop performance.

This aerodynamic design allows the silencer to reduce duct-borne noise without creating unnecessary airflow resistance.

Kinetics offers 10 standard circular silencer types in three standard lengths. Therefore, engineers can select from 30 standard design options for different acoustic and airflow requirements.

Materials and Casing Thickness

Kinetics fabricates standard circular silencers from G90 galvanized steel.

For diameters from 12 in. to 24 in., or 305 mm to 610 mm, Kinetics uses a minimum casing thickness of 22 ga. or 0.85 mm.

For diameters greater than 24 in. or 610 mm, Kinetics uses a minimum casing thickness of 18 ga. or 1.31 mm.

In addition, every circular silencer maintains airtight performance at a pressure differential of 10 in. Wg.

Insertion Loss and Pressure-Drop Performance

Kinetics provides insertion-loss data for standard circular silencer construction. This data helps engineers evaluate acoustic performance across different silencer sizes, lengths, and configurations.

Longer silencers generally provide higher insertion loss. However, the additional length also increases pressure drop. Engineers must therefore balance sound attenuation with system airflow requirements.

Circular silencers with a sound-absorbing bullet can achieve higher insertion loss. The bullet reduces the open face area and increases acoustic absorption. However, the smaller open area also constricts airflow and increases pressure drop.

Kinetics presents pressure-drop data for silencers installed in straight duct sections. The published data assumes that neither silencer end sits close to a bend, elbow, or transition. Nearby fittings can change airflow conditions and affect actual pressure loss.

For special acoustic-media coverings, customers should contact the local Kinetics representative. Engineers may also use the Kinetics web-based silencer selection program.

Special media-protection options include:
