KINETICS® KFA Quilted Fiberglass Absorber is a flexible, fire-safe acoustic fiberglass blanket designed to reduce reverberant airborne noise in industrial, OEM, HVAC, machinery enclosure, and MEP applications across the UAE, GCC, and MENA region.
Kinetics Noise Control Inc. Products
KINETICS® KFA Quilted Face Fiberglass Sound Absorber is a high-performance acoustical attenuating fiberglass blanket used to reduce reverberant, reflected airborne noise in demanding industrial and OEM environments. It is a practical alternative to urethane foam where fire safety, low smoke emissions, mechanical strength, cleanability, and long service life are important project requirements. Standard colour is grey, with additional colours available.
Acoustic Construction and Working Principle
The core component of KFA is a low-binder, fine-fiber, acoustically absorptive fiberglass batting. Reinforced nonporous fiberglass cloth facing materials are quilted directly to the fiberglass batting using high-strength thread and locking stitches. The standard 4 in. x 4 in. / 102 mm x 102 mm diamond quilting pattern encapsulates the glass fibers and helps maintain a stable absorber form. When exposed to airborne sound, the membrane facing responds diaphragmatically and transmits sound energy into the fiberglass batting, where the energy is dissipated as thermal energy.
Available Configurations
KFA quilted fiberglass absorbers are available as single-layer or double-layer materials, with nominal thicknesses of 1 in. / 25 mm or 2 in. / 51 mm. Double-layer thickness improves low-frequency absorption and provides significant transmission loss characteristics. Depending on project requirements, the absorber can be faced on one or both sides. Available facings include aluminum-vinyl coated fiberglass cloth (A), impervious high-temperature silicone-coated fiberglass cloth (S) quilted with Nomex stitching thread, and nonwoven porous scrim fabric (N). These facings can be used individually or in combination on the same absorber.
Project Use and Engineering Value
For industrial buildings, mechanical rooms, data centers, plant areas, equipment enclosures, and HVAC-related noise control projects in the Middle East, KINETICS® KFA provides durable absorption for reducing reflected sound inside noisy spaces or around equipment. It can be used for absorptive linings on machinery housings, building walls, curtain or fixed enclosures, compartments, hoods, operator cabs, piping, ductwork, or any area where reverberant noise reduction is required.
Absorption Characteristics
KFA absorber models include KFA-10Q-NA, KFA-10Q-NS, and KFA-20Q-NA. Published absorption data includes NRC 0.70 for KFA-10Q-NA, NRC 0.70 for KFA-10Q-NS, and NRC 0.80 for KFA-20Q-NA. The tested octave band absorption coefficients are provided across 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, and 4000 Hz frequency bands.
Specifications and Physical Properties
KFA fiberglass batting has a 4–6 micron fiber diameter, thermosetting phenolic resin binder content of 3–5% by weight, nominal density of 2 lbs. pcf / 9.8 kg/m², and thermal conductivity of K = 0.25 BTU in./°F x sq. ft. x hr. at 75°F mean. Composite properties include Class 1 flame spread and smoke developed rating per ASTM E-84, flame spread -5, fuel contributed -20, and smoke developed -5. Available quilted thicknesses include 1 in. / 25 mm, 2 in. / 51 mm, and 4 in. / 102 mm nominal, with 48 in. / 1219 mm material width.
